SYFY ID - SCHOOL PROJECT (NATIONAL GOLD ADDY AWARD WINNER)
This was our project was our 24fps stop motion project in our Animation Techniques class.
The goal was to translate the "SYFY" brand identity into a tangible, energetic world. Using traditional paper puppets captured at 24fps, I combined tactile craftsmanship with digital precision. I utilized Dragonframe for the primary animation and After Effects for final compositing to ensure a polished, broadcast-ready look.
I was incredibly honored to have received a National Gold ADDY for this project.

PROCESS
ROLE

The storyboard process was where I began ideation, playing out how the scene could possibly move in a fun and lively animated way. This stage was all about experimenting with the energy of the brand before bringing the puppets to life.
ANIMATING EACH COMPONENT SEPERATELY

COMPOSITING THE SHOTS
ROLE

Because of the complexity of the movement, I needed to animate each component separately. This allowed for total control over the timing of every paper element.
Once the individual stop-motion passes were complete, I brought them into After Effects to create a final composite (shown above), finally seeing all the separate animations live together in one cohesive scene.
TAKEAWAYS
ROLE
Starting with this project allowed me to build a strong backbone in animation techniques. Learning these core fundamentals was an invaluable experience, and seeing a freshman-year project reach this national level was extremely humbling and an amazing honor.
